Karen lives in Richmond, Virginia. She is a native of the state having grown up in Northern Virginia. She began playing the guitar and writing songs at the age of 14. Her first performance was at the Cellar Door in Georgetown at the age of 17. She performed during college years and then took a long hiatus while working on her career in special education. In 1996, she began performing again after a friend practically dragged her from the house to play at an open mike at Borders Books and Music. Thanks William!
She recorded her first CD in November of 1999, which is now available at CD Baby and Guitar Works in Carytown. You can also order a CD directly from Karen by contacting her through the website or you can pick one up at a live performance.
Karen's second CD "Close Enough" was released in December, 2002 and has a host of local artists adding to the mix including Doug Austin, Daniel Clarke, Frank Coleman, Eileen Edmonds, Jackie Frost, George Garrett, Bill Gurley, Danny Hughes, and Robbie Sinclair.
Karen will release a new CD this winter, 2007. Keep an eye out for it!
